Usually when we go camping we will take our families or go with a group of friends. It can be fun to sit around the campfire and tell ghost stories or to go fishing and hunting. However, there are times when we prefer to make these trips on our own and go solo camping.
This is something that many people will do and will usually only be gone for a day or two. It gives them the chance to have some peace and quiet and to think about anything that might be going on or to simple escape from everything for a few days. Before you go though you need to make sure that you know everything that needs to be done.
Tent
When it is just you on the camping trip you don’t need to bring along a huge tent. You can spend $100 and purchase a one person tent. These are enough to fit just you, a sleeping bag, and the backpack. It is durable enough to keep you sheltered from the bugs, cold, and rain. Make sure that you understand how to put it together before you set out on your trip.
Safety
The one downside to camping on your own is that you do not have anyone to help you if something should go wrong. It is important to know what you should do in certain situations and how to keep it safe. The first thing you should do is to tell someone where you are going and how long you will be gone. If you are even a day late they will know to call someone for help and can tell them where you are.
On your trip you need to carry a first aid kit that will take care of any cuts you might get or even snake bites. You should also carry bear spray, compass, map, knife, whistle, and plenty of water.
