Beach Camping

Have you ever went camping on the beach? Besides the obvious romantic getaway, beach camping is a great adventure for the whole family. It’s not much different than setting up a trip for the woods, but there are a few things you’d probably want to prepare before heading out. We’ll help you get started.

Choosing A Camp Site On The Beach

Beach CampingFinding a campsite on the beach is alot like finding one on a lake, which we’ve already covered. Make sure you’re site isn’t right on the water, or if it is you can move easily to under a tree or other shelter. Winds can really get strong at night and during certain times of the year, and with the open water there’s nothing to slow it down to a safe speed.

Noise travels very far round water, so be sure to keep the noise levels down. Both for other campers who may be fishing and also for the enjoyment of other families around you. Like always, try to setup camp at least yelling distance from your nearest neighbor.

Gear and Food Checklist

Like with any outdoor trip, make sure you have a checklist prepared well in advance for all of the things you’ll need. Backpacking basics like sleeping backs and/or a tent, a portable stove or lighter and waterproof matches, cookwear and eating utensils are a must. You want to pack light, but at the same time smart. Don’t forget the food and water, you may be on a lake but might not be able to catch anything to eat and, obviously, drinking lake water isn’t recommended unless you boil it first.

Keeping Things Clean And Tidy

Above all else, have a great time and do your part in helping others do the same. You wouldn’t want to camp on a trashy site, so why would you leave trash around for others? Be kind to mother nature, and enjoy your family trip on the beach! You don’t have to find a campsite on a busy California or Florida beach to have a great time, any beach will do!
