Picture this, you’re outside in the beautiful weather enjoying the best of what nature has to offer. The wind is blowing, the leaves are moving, the day is sunny – but one thing is clouding your vacation – you’ve got to go to the bathroom! For guys, it’s not that big of a deal. For the women, it’s a deal breaker. The one thing you didn’t think about bringing, a camping toilet, is the thing you need the most right now.

Of course, if you’re camping on a campground you probably have access to a public or community restroom. For seasoned campers, however, you might be deep in the woods or on the beach far from anything “public.” The great thing is that these toilets are often highly portable, lightweight and are easy to setup and clean. They’re useful most anywhere, like in your boat out on the water. Definately should be considered depending on where you and your family will be setting up camp.

There really isn’t anything special you should look or watch out for, pretty much looking at the amount of water and waste storage along with the cost are the two most important factors. You may also want to look at how the waste is cleaned, some may offer a bag for easier cleanup while most simply wash out.

A quick search on some of the popular camping outlets show that many of these retail for around $100, though with seasonal deals you can pickup a really nice unit for as little as $60. Coleman has some nice offerings, though I’m kindof partial to my Reliance FlushLoo I picked up at Target. I’m sure I could have gotten a better deal online, but it was a quick and easy buy and I was in the need last minute. I like it because it’s two pieces so clean-up is pretty easy.

You can’t go wrong with most any brand though, just be sure it’s from a reputable name-brand company. Buying from the Internet is suggested, because you can’t beat the prices and you’ll get a better opportunity to comparison shop.
