One of the most “needed” items on a camping list that’s often forgotten is a camping table. I’m sure you’ve been there, enjoying the outdoors and cooking dinner for the family – only to realize there’s not place to put the food or to eat it at. Besides, there’s are lots more great reasons to bring along a portable folding table.
Folding Camping Table
We use the words portable and folding together sometimes, essentially what we mean is that your table should be able to be broken down and stored while using up as little room as possible. You need it at your campsite, though you’ve already got a ton of stuff to carry with you like your food, clothing and shelter. Fortunately technology hasn’t left you out in the cold, so to speak.
Important Features Of A Good Camp Table
There are literally dozens, if not hundreds, of camp tables available to buy. Before you make your purchase, think about all aspects – from packing and storing to the actual practicality of using it. What works well for me might not be good for you. Some of the things to look for, that I find important, include:
- Weight – it needs to be light. Aluminum or plastic material is preferred. Wood is far too heavy.
- Portability – it needs to fold up into the smallest package possible, preferably with a carry bag. There’s only so much room in the family SUV.
- Surface Area – Being lightweight and portable doesn’t do much good if you can barely fit a coke can on it.
- Functionality – some camping tables have cupholders, stove racks and other nifty things built in. This is personal preference.
Camping tables are great, and again often overlooked. You can eat, drink, play games like cards and use it for general storage while out enjoying nature’s best. You don’t have to spend an arm and a leg either, most decent tables cost as little as $50. Plus, most name brand companies – like REI, Coleman, Travelchair, etc. all make some sort of beach or camp rolltop or flat top that’ll fold up and store easily. Just make sure it’ll be practical for what you intend to use it for.
