Camping Shelters

The tent is the shelter that we use when we are ready to go to sleep. It helps to protect us from the wind, rain, and bugs outside. However, we all need something that will protect us from the rain and the hot sun when we are awake. While camping shelters are not imperative they do help to provide us and our belongings with some protection.

Freestanding Portable Shelter

The camping shelter is built to be freestanding and portable so that we can carry it easily to our campsite. It can also be used at the beach or in the backyard. It is designed with four adjustable legs that allow you to choose between three or four different heights you want it to be at.

The frame is made from aluminum to make it durable and able to withstand weather of all kind. The canopy is made from waterproof and fire retardant nylon fabric. When not being used you can keep everything inside of a heavy duty carry bag. The shelter can be put up in under a minute and will cost between $200 to $500.

Make A Tarp Camping Shelter

If you are looking to save money than you can try to make your own camping shelter from tarp. This material is durable, thick, and easy to work with. It is also easy to carry this make shift shelter because it is lighter.

String heavy duty rope between two trees. Make sure that it is three to four feet above the ground. Place the tarp over the rope and secure the bottom edges with large rocks or logs. Punching holes in the tarp with stakes could cause them to tear and ruin the whole thing.

If the camp site is windy than you need to tie one end of the rope to the tree and the other to a large rock. Secure it with a stake or small tree. The lower end will take the brunt of the wind and shield you from it.
